Useful information for your stay at Palazzo Scotto in Alberobello
Frequently asked questions:
Two or three. Alberobello asks for one day: the town is visited on foot, and in the evening — once the buses leave — it is another place altogether. The towns of the valley ask for a second: Locorotondo at 9 kilometres, Martina Franca at 13, Cisternino at 18 — all there and back in a day, returning in the evening.
If your trip allows it, the third day is for the sea or for resting: the beaches of Monopoli are 23–26 kilometres away. With a single night you see the town; with two or three you live the valley.
The palazzo is not in a restricted traffic zone: you can drive right up to the door. There is no stopping on our street, though: Piazza Curri is round the corner, and that is where you pull up and unload the luggage. Then the car: the Marinelli garage, our partner, at an agreed rate of €25 a night — booking goes through us, write to us and we'll arrange it; you drive there yourself (open 8am–1pm and 2pm–8pm) and they drive you back to the reception. Or Largo Italo Svevo, a free street about 400 metres away. There is also public street parking, at €2 an hour, no booking needed.
Before you arrive we send you precise directions, on WhatsApp too.
Yes: Alberobello station (Ferrovie del Sud Est, Bari–Martina Franca line) is about ten minutes on foot from the palazzo.
By plane: Bari airport (Karol Wojtyła) is about 55 km away, Brindisi about 70 — an hour's drive either way. On request we arrange an airport transfer — a private driver service (NCC) — priced by destination.
Almost everything: the palazzo stands on Alberobello's nineteenth-century main street, a few steps from the Basilica, and the town is visited on foot. The station is about ten minutes away.
The four rooms of the Widespread Collection, in the old town, are 40–150 metres from the door: one or two minutes on foot.
No — and we tell you upfront: five rooms are in the nineteenth-century palazzo, four are in the Widespread Collection, 40–150 metres from the door as the crow flies. La Piccola and the Trullo Maestro are in Vico Avv. Turi, about 40 metres away — a one-minute walk; Caminetto and Pietra are in Via Goffredo Mameli, about 150 metres away, in a pedestrian area where locals actually live.
It is the quiet side of town, away from the crowds. Reception, for everyone, is at the palazzo, at number 32 on Corso Trieste e Trento.
Yes — and we would rather tell you ourselves. The welcome drink, always included until 18:00, and breakfast in your room apply to the palazzo rooms. If you sleep in the Widespread Collection you get, in exchange, a door of your own on a quiet lane — and a seat at the breakfast table at the palazzo, like everyone else.
Yes, none repeats. In the palazzo: the Cummerse has a private terrace and a view over the trulli; the Nobile Suite and Nobile Deluxe also look onto the cones; the Suite Trullo is a trullo in the palazzo garden, and the Foresteria, the design room, opens onto the same garden — where there are just two tables.
In the Widespread Collection: the Pietra has a kitchen (on request, with a €15 cleaning fee per day), the Caminetto a decorative fireplace, the Trullo Maestro is an entire trullo on two levels, La Piccola is the studio for two. Write to us: we will suggest the right one for the way you travel.
Yes, if you choose one: the Suite Trullo is a real trullo in the palazzo garden; the Trullo Maestro is an entire trullo on two levels, with a double bed on the mezzanine, inside the cone. The other rooms are in the nineteenth-century stone palazzo — built with techniques similar to those of the trulli — or in our stone houses in the historic centre.
In the palazzo rooms, yes: only guests aged 18 and over sleep there. In the Widespread Collection, no: at the Caminetto, the Pietra, La Piccola and the Trullo Maestro children are welcome, and a cot is available on request, with a supplement. Breakfast at NOS is open to all guests, including children sleeping in the Widespread Collection. The guest who checks in must be 18 or over.
Yes. The Trullo Maestro is a trullo on two levels for up to 6 guests, with three double beds: in the bedroom, in the sitting room and on the mezzanine, inside the cone; downstairs there are also two bathrooms and a full kitchen, available on request with a €15 cleaning fee per day. The Pietra too — about 45 m² in Via Mameli — sleeps up to four: the third and fourth guests sleep on a sofa that opens into a bunk bed. Both are in the Widespread Collection: children are welcome, and a cot is available on request, with a supplement. In the palazzo, for three adults, there is the Suite Trullo: on request, the lounge sofa becomes a single bed.
It is served by NOS, the restaurant of the house, on the ground floor of the palazzo: every morning from 8:00 to 10:30, with a seat at the table for everyone — including guests sleeping in the Widespread Collection. Sweet and savoury, with fresh local produce: cheeses, cured meats, fresh bread, fruit, homemade cakes and hot drinks. You order it from the menu by 21:00 the evening before. If you have preferences or intolerances, tell us in advance: we will sort it out.
When you book on the official website, breakfast is always included, in both rates.
For the palazzo rooms, on request and at no extra charge, breakfast comes to your room.
Check-in runs from 15:00 to 23:00; for other times, write to us in advance and we will arrange it. If you arrive after 22:30, let us know: we will send you the instructions to get in. Check-out is by 11:00.
If you need the room before 15:00 or want to leave it after 11:00, ask ahead: we consider it case by case, out of respect for arriving guests, and the supplement is €10. Before and after, we store your luggage at no charge.
No: reception is at the palazzo, from 8:00 to 22:30, and it is the same for all nine rooms — the four in the Widespread Collection included. Check-in is from 15:00 to 23:00; for other times, write to us in advance. If you arrive after 22:30, let us know: we will send you the instructions to get in.
Yes, in two rooms of the Widespread Collection: Caminetto and Pietra, in Via Mameli, for pets up to 6 kg, with a supplement of €15 a day. Not in the palazzo rooms. Write to us before you arrive, so we can prepare everything.
Yes, and it is right downstairs: NOS, on the ground floor of the palazzo. Local produce and live music, every night. Tables are booked only with a card as guarantee. In the evening you come back — and you have already arrived.
No: it sits at about 450 metres above sea level, in the heart of the Valle d'Itria. The nearest beaches are those of Monopoli, 23–26 kilometres away; then Savelletri, Torre Canne and the Torre Guaceto reserve, between 31 and 40. The real distances, beach by beach, are on our Valle d'Itria page.
On request we arrange a private driver (NCC) there and back, priced by destination: the sea without the parking worry.
Through the official website: choose your room, dates and rate. There are two rates. Flexible, palazzo rooms only: the booking is guaranteed with a credit card. With deposit, all rooms: when you book, you pay 30% of the cost of the stay as a confirmatory deposit (in Italian, “caparra confirmatoria”). At reception, you can also pay in cash. The conditions are on the “Booking conditions” page.
If you prefer, write to us via the enquiry form or on WhatsApp: we reply directly and suggest the right room for you.
From the enquiry form: you will find it at the foot of every page of the site. It asks for arrival and departure dates, treatment (night only, or bed and breakfast), room, number of adults and your contact details. We reply ourselves with a quote by email — and on WhatsApp too, if you tick that box on the form.

A historic trulli residence in Alberobello: nine rooms, no two alike — five in a 19th-century palazzo on the town’s main street, and four in the Widespread Collection, 40–150 metres away. A small house with the services that matter: a staffed reception at the palazzo, Wi-Fi in every room, and breakfast — included when you book on the official website — cooked and served by NOS, our own restaurant on the ground floor.
Nine rooms: five in the palazzo and four in the Widespread Collection. The booking portals split the house into two listings — “Palazzo Scotto” for the five in the palazzo and “Palazzo Scotto - Widespread Collection” for the other four: two listings, one house, one reception.
It dates from the late 19th century: the Rotolo family built it in local stone. After years of neglect, it came back to life through eight years of restoration.
No: no pool, no spa, no whirlpool bath and no shared terrace. The only terrace is the Cummerse’s private one.
Yes: best rate guaranteed, luggage storage and — for the palazzo rooms — the welcome drink, until 18:00. And you talk directly to us, before and during your stay.
Some offers on Booking.com go through external providers (Booking Basic) and do not show all the information. Here is the map: “Suite Deluxe Dipendenza” is the Pietra, “Suite Queen Dipendenza” is the Caminetto — both in the Widespread Collection, in Via Mameli: reception, breakfast at NOS and the services for all guests apply there too; the welcome drink, room service and in-room breakfast are for the palazzo rooms only.
On our website every room has its name, photos and declared distance: the clearest way to know where you will sleep.
No. Our rooms are designed for full stays.
